It is my great privilege to represent the people of Monash in the Parliament of Australia. Our local area is a great place to live, work and raise a family and I work to ensure it continues to be an even better place for us all.

In addition to serving our Monash community, I am a vocal advocate for a just and compassionate society with a focus on: a fair and sustainable NDIS, care and dignity for our elders and their carers, respect for women, flexibility and support for small businesses and the humane treatment of refugees.

Dear Mr Broadbent We have corresponded quite a number of times. Given I have CPTSD (controlled for months due to a lot of inner work) Cognitive overload Utter distress which I try mask. I believe you are WELL AWARE of this and more? I'm home from a psychologists appt. I'm actually disappointed a welfare check was not performed here? I am 100% safe from suicide. I do NOT feel safe from other/s given I don't know whose been perpetratrating these relentless uninvestigated home invasions, among other things. As a trained mental health worker out of a job because of jab mandates, I'm deeply disappointed I kindly send this as feedback. I'll await correspondence from your office today, as suggested by your lovely receptionist. I've clearly requested an URGENT sit down with my local FEDERAL REP. One hundred years ago, in country areas across Victoria and Australia, 20% of women were dying in childbirth, as compared to those women in the city who only had a 3% chance of death after childbirth. The country communities were so outraged by this that local and state governments created bush nursing hospitals across country areas in Victoria and Australia, and reduced the incidences of deaths through childbirth to 3% – the same as their city cousins. So when I read in the Herald Sun recently a report that there’s been a 20% increase in cardiac arrests in Victoria since 2019, and that 95% of patients are dying, I was reminded of the mortality rates amongst women all those years ago. If that’s not shocking enough, the proposed response is to push for more first aid training and defibrillators. But as in the past, we must ask: what is the root cause of this massive spike in cardiac arrests? I don’t know if it’s the covid injection. But if it’s not, surely we must ask ourselves why? Why is there a 20% increase in cardiac arrests over the past 5 years? Given Australia’s unexplained excess deaths, I have written to the Hon Mark Butler - the Minister for Health – to ask if his department is willing to include Covid-19 vaccine mandates in their scope of investigation into the possible cause of this very disturbing trend. I ask these questions as I have done for 3 years. Without judgment of anybody, only asking why. That’s justice as I see it.

Excess Deaths and Cardiac Arrests: Why the increase?

Russell Broadbent here, your Independent Member for Monash. I’ve had thousands of conversations with people across our nation about a whole range of injustices suffered during the Covid-pandemic. Conversations about the blatant disregard of our human rights by government officials that led to record-high days in lockdown, border closures, both state and international, forced vaccination mandates and especially the right to gather together, for example no church services. A picture paints a thousand words, and I could talk for days about the hardships endured by Australians during the pandemic. But the numbers tell an even more riveting story: There was a total of $577 billion taxpayer dollars spent on the Covid response by federal and state governments. This includes $247 million on Covid tests and over $18 billion on Covid vaccines and treatment supply. The Australian government purchased over 267 million Covid vaccine doses. Enough to vaccinate Australia’s population ten times over! And last week it was reported that of these 267 million doses, only 26% have been used and 35% have been wasted – just thrown away! That’s millions of taxpayer dollars, literally down the drain, while everyday Australians struggle to make ends meet! Where’s the accountability? Where’s the explanation for such incompetence? The Department of Health posted 19 thousand times about Covid on social media, and the Australian Government censored 4000 social media posts as ‘misinformation’, many of which have subsequently been proven to be true! And finally, there were 2662 complaints made to the Australian Human Rights Commission about Covid-19 policies. I ask you this – what sort of picture do these numbers paint for how we handled the pandemic? A pretty ugly one if you ask me. And that’s justice as I see it.

Russell Broadbent here, your Independent Member for Monash. I know for many people, the so-called pandemic years are a distant memory. Hundreds of days in lockdown, mask mandates, limits on how far you could travel from your home, limits on how many times a day you could leave your home, limits on how much toilet paper you could buy and vax mandates so you could go to work and feed your family. Saying that out loud sounds a bit crazy, doesn’t it? It’s understandable that many Australians want to forget this time of their lives. But it’s imperative that we don’t. Every day I hear from people who are still suffering the impacts of these decisions – especially desperately needed frontline workers in Victoria who are still mandated to have three experimental covid injections! The human cost of Australia’s pandemic response – the breakdown of families, loss of employment, vaccine injuries, unprecedented restriction on our human rights – cannot be swept under the rug as time passes. The Australian Human Rights Commission has received over 2,500 complaints regarding Covid-19 – and they are still counting. Public submissions have been released from those individuals and organisations who wished to have their say in the Commonwealth Government COVID-19 Response Inquiry. In her public submission, Human Rights Commissioner Lorraine Finlay says: ‘there have…been significant social and community impacts resulting from Australians being required to endure some of the most significant restrictions on our human rights ever imposed during peacetime.’ Funnily enough, human rights are not expressly mentioned in the Terms of Reference of the Government’s Inquiry. As Ms Finlay says, how can the Government fully understand the human cost of the pandemic if they do not consider the blatant disregard and neglect of Australia’s human rights? She also said: ‘Similarly, express exclusions of actions taken…by state and territory governments from the Inquiry means that key aspects of Australia’s pandemic response which were primarily the responsibility of the state government – such as lockdowns and state border closures – will not be examined’. Some Victorians spent over 200 days – let me repeat that, 200 days – in lockdown. Melbournians endured the longest lockdown in the world! How can the government possibly get a comprehensive review of our pandemic response without reference to the lived experience of millions of Australians from state restrictions? As Ms Finlay says: ‘public response measures – including international and interstate border closures, hotel quarantine, extended periods of lockdowns, school closures, curfews and other restrictions on movement and association, vaccine mandates, mask mandates and playground closures’ – had a significant (and often hidden) human cost’. I agree with the Human Rights Commissioner, but let’s take it one step further – the human cost of pandemic restrictions was intentionally censored by government and the media in the name of ‘protecting’ the public form so-called ‘misinformation’. It’s alarming that those measures that infringed our human rights the most – namely public response measures imposed by state and territory governments – are expressly excluded by this Inquiry. And it’s alarming that human rights aren’t even mentioned in the Terms of Reference – as though they simply do not matter. The only way these two factors will be considered is if we have a Royal Commission – surely Australians deserve that much. The human cost and suffering caused by our pandemic response continues to this day. And governments across the nation should be held accountable. That’s justice as I see it.
