The economic consequence of this pandemic has fallen heavily on the shoulders of our young people.
In this week’s budget we are working to cushion the impact, lessen the pain and give hope to our young people with support in undertaking training and learning skills, getting into the workforce, and being supported with:
- Funding for 100,000 new apprentices to support the next generation of our skilled workers and to help job seekers get back into work through an apprenticeship subsidy.
- Supporting nearly half a million young Australians with a new hiring credit available to employers who hire eligible employees aged 16-35. Around 450,000 positions for young Australians will be supported through this program.
- $1 billion towards creating up to 340,000 free or low-cost training places for school leavers and job seekers to ensure they have the skills they need to get a job.
Take heart - if you’re just starting out, there is a great future ahead for you and your young friends.
That’s just as I see it.
